| Welcome to New York City Pictures - Downtown - City Hall Park |
City Hall City Hall is bordered by Park Row, Broadway and Chambers Street.
| |
Trade Center Looking to the south you can see that City Hall is close to the Financial District.
| |
Trees in the Park City Park has been recently renovated and is full of beautiful plants and trees.
| |
Bare Naked Trees These pictures were taken early in the spring so the trees are bare of leaves.
| |
Rule of the Park The rules of the park are prominently posted for all to see (#10 No performing or rallying except by permit). Good luck getting a permit.
| |
Flowers on the Trees My suburban upbringing would make me think this is a Dogwood, my sister says it’s a Magnolia. So much for my upbringing.
| |
City Hall Another look at city hall. Notice the barricades that keep people off the steps. These steps were once a platform for people to freely express their First Amendment Rights.
| |
Parking Lot An exciting look at the parking lot to the west of City Hall.
| |
Grass and Trees We're not all about stone and concrete. You can find some grass and trees here and there.
| |
Tessera In tradition with old New York you can find tessera on the sidewalks. These glass squares would light the basements of buildings for the workers and tenants. With gas and electric lighting, they now produce a glowing checkered sidewalk at night.
| |
Light Post One of the many light posts around the park.
| |
Gass Lamp This is a nice touch. These lamps are gas. I was at the park early enough to still see them lit.
| |
Fountain In the center of the park is a multi-tiered fountain.
| |
Fountain The fountain spits and sprays water from many direction. I wish I had a black lab right now.
| |
Lamp Post Another lamppost.
| |
Bushes In the center of the park is some nice shrubbery. I don't suspect they will stay green long with the pollution billowing buses idling on Park Row.
| |
Refuge Seek Refuge. | | |
| |
Seal Surrounding the shield are maps and text showing the evolution of City Hall to its present day layout.
| |
Steam Occasionally when one of our 100 plus year old pipes break we get steam that billows out of the ground. This tame trickle gives the plants near by a nice shower.
| |
Ryder Truck I wanted to get a shot of the Big Yellow Ryder Truck, but the flowers got in my way.
