Welcome to New York City Pictures - Upper East Side - The Tram
The Tram up Close
There are two trams that go back and forth from Manhattan at 59th and 2nd Avenue to Roosevelt Island.

The Tram from Above
Each tram leaves at the same time and cross at the midway point above the Queens Borough Bridge, also known as the 59th Street Bridge.

View from 2nd Avenue
The towers run immediately to the north of the Bridge. The ride takes above five minutes and currently costs $1.50. You have to buy tokens as the Metro Card is not accepted.

View from Roosevelt Island
The tram station on Roosevelt Island is at ground level right next to the bridge.

I was a little jealous of these people with the back yard.

A look north up the East River. This is not a nice place to swim.

Dog Run
Along the river below the bridge is a park with this twisted piece of steel above it. If you look close you can see the people below violating the leash laws.

Queensboro Bridge
There are four ways to get into Manhattan where you will see some of the best views. The upper roadway of the Queens Borough Bridge is one of them. As you approach you feel that you are being swallowed up by the steel and concrete of the city.
